Who We Are & What We Do
ALBA Therapy Ponies & Friends was born from a lifelong love of animals shared by Alex and Drew, both drawn to animals in need of extra care. Their paths first crossed while working at a Riding for the Disabled centre, and after Alex rescued her first miniature Shetland pony, a dream began to grow: to help more ponies and, in turn, help people through them. We are so thankful to be able to look after such incredible animals and continue our dreaming being their full time grooms. Through spending time with and learning about the profound ways ponies can support emotional wellbeing, they have developed ALBA Therapy Ponies — a place where rescued animals are loved and rehabilitated, then shared with others to bring comfort, joy, and education to people of all ages. Alongside our therapy ponies, we run a small animal rescue, welcoming rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small animals into safe, loving homes. Completely self-funded, every penny goes directly to the care of our animals, ensuring they thrive while making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Our therapy ponies love visiting various care homes throughout Scotland, bringing warmth, laughter, and comfort to residents of all ages. During each visit, everyone has the chance to meet the ponies, hear their stories, and even enjoy brushing or leading them. These simple, hands-on moments often spark fond memories, encourage conversation, and create a wonderful sense of calm and connection. Every visit is filled with smiles, shared stories, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the ponies have returned home.

Our friendly therapy ponies are available for 1, 2, or 4-hour visits, and can bring joy to both indoor and outdoor events. We aim to keep our pricing accessible for everyone, while making sure our ponies have the care they need to stay happy and healthy. Animal Sanctuary
Through our rescue and rehoming scheme, we give small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs a second chance at a happy life. We support those who may be struggling to care for their animals, offering a safe, loving, and knowledgeable home where every pet is health-checked and nurtured. Once a suitable new home is found, we carefully rehome them and stay in touch to ensure they continue to thrive. Our goal is to give every rescued animal the care, attention, and love they deserve, while helping people create lifelong bonds with their new companions. They also have an Amazon wish list. If you are not in the position to support us through rehoming an animal, please do have a think about purchasing something for them off of our wish list. This goes a long way to the care and happiness of our animals.
How You Can Get Involved
There are many ways you can support the animals of ALBA! You can book a visit with our therapy ponies, make a donation, or even provide unwanted animal supplies or fresh fruit and vegetables for our animals. Volunteering your time, spreading the word to friends and family, engaging with us on social media, or alerting us to someone who may be struggling, and needs help with their pet are all wonderful ways to help. Every little bit makes a difference and helps us continue caring for our rescued animals while sharing the joy and comfort of our therapy ponies with others.
